Alexandra is a central Victoria rural town on the Goulburn River just downstream of its outlet from Lake Eildon
the river is generally quite cold (as the outlet is from the deeper levels of the lake) and is often quite a fast current but one-way kayaking, small motor boats can be used

just under 2hrs from NW suburbs of Melbourne via Yea by either Whittlesea or via Yarra Glen
for those living in eastern suburbs, access via Healesville and Taggerty may be faster but you do have to go through the Black Spur

17min, 16km Goschnicks Lookout, Skyline Rd, Devils River via Steel's Culvert then a further 7km is Brier's Lookout which can be made into a total 60km return loop via the Maintongoon valley back to Eglinton Historic rail bridge and Alexandra
