Nikon AF-S 200mm f/2.0 VR lenses
introduction
- very wide aperture telephoto lens
- awkward and heavy to hand hold and carry
- very expensive and heavy at just under 3kg but can give shallow depth of field (DOF) and lovely smooth bokeh, and thus great for portraits/fashion as well as nature photography although 200mm is limiting
- wide aperture also is great for indoor sports
- most people would be better off with the much lighter, smaller, less expensive and more versatile ]]nikonafs70-200mm]]
new Nikon 200mm f/2.0G VRII lens

- 6.2 feet/1.9m close focus
- 6.5 pounds/2.93kg

reviews
-
- sharper than the Nikon 300mm f/2.8 VRII or the Nikon Micro Nikkor 200mm f/4D which is a soft lens
-
- well corrected for coma and astigmatism
- negligible longitudinal chromatic aberration
- lat. CA low but becomes medium at f/5.6-8
- 0.6EV vignetting on DX camera
- 1.1EV vignetting on full frame
- should be a nice lens for guided deep sky astrophotography of comets, etc!
