Introduction
- Canon's R system is a mirrorless full frame camera system introduced mid 2018
- new 12-pin RF mount has an inner diameter of 54mm and a flange focal distance of 20mm (same distance as Micro Four Thirds system)
- in 2022, Canon instructed 3rd party lens manufacturers to STOP selling AF lenses designed for RF mount as it is a breach of patent as unlike Sony, Canon has not licensed its AF technology to 3rd parties
