Olympus mZD 9mm f/8 fisheye bodycap lens
introduction
- introduced in Jan 2014
- inexpensive (~$99) very thin fun lens (hence “bodycap”)
- quite good image quality for a lens of this type however VERY soft in the corners, and lacks contrast and punch of a conventionally designed lens whilst not being as wide a field of view nor as close focusing as a normal fisheye lens
specs
- 140 degree field of view rectilinear fisheye (ie. it does not give a circular image)
- manual focus down to 0.2m via a lever on the front which also acts as lens cap barrier
- you can set it to the middle focus position which practically gives focus from 0.5m to infinity
- fixed aperture at f/8
- no electronic communication with camera
- THUS you MUST set the IS focal length setting if using image stabiliser
- 5 elements in 4 groups including 2 aspherical elements
- 56mm diameter x 12.5mm thick
- only 30g
