Introduction
- released in late 2021 as the 1st lens from the new OM Systems company
- this is a light IPX1-rated weathersealed pro lens but unlike the larger, heavier, more expensive Olympus mZD 25mm f/1.2 PRO lens, it does not have a MF clutch or a Lns Function button
- ergonomically a better fit for the E-M5 style cameras than the 25mm f/1.2
Specs
- 20mm f/1.4 giving 57-degree angle of view
- close focus 25cm but has same “macro” magnification of 0.11x (0.22x in FF terms) as the Olympus mZD 25mm f/1.2 PRO lens which focuses to 30cm
- 11 elements in 10 groups incl. three ED elements, one 'Super ED' element, two super HR (high-refractive) elements and two aspherical elements
- ZERO nano lens coating plus flourine protective coating to front element
- 9 circular aperture blades
- 58mm filter
- “feathered” bokeh
- 61.7mm (2.43“) x 63.4mm (2.5”)
- 247g
- $US799
Reviews
-
- vignetting at f/1.4 but largely gone by f/1.8
- sharpest at f/4-5.6 but only marginally better than wide open
- slight longitudinal chromatic aberration (LoCA)
- no ugly onion-ring bokeh effect or dirty bokeh but there is some cat's eye towards the edges
