• William AYTON was born in Norfolk, England and married Mary WACEY on 16th May 1775 at South Creake, Docking, Norfolk.
  • my mother had recorded William's DOB as 1st May 1763 in Norfolk but I cannot find a source for this information and it does not seem to fit with his marital record - thank you Ian Hall for the correction. My mother thought perhaps William Oughton b. 1/5/1763 of West Acre, NFK, son of William and Mary, was this William Ayton - seems unlikely.
  • Mary WACEY was born 2nd June 1754 in South Creake and died in Syderstone, Norfolk on 24th Nov. 1797. Her parents were Thos WACEY and Elizabeth CHAMBERS.

• There is record of a William Ayton, widower, marrying a Jane Hazell nee FREEZER?, widow, in Syderstone Parish Church on 17th April 1798 and who died shortly after in Nov. 1798.
